EMMITSBURG, Md. (February 11, 2026) – Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play returns to Knott Arena, when Mount St. Mary's women's basketball welcomes defending champion Fairfield Thursday evening.
MOUNT UPDATE
- Alana Powell and Amber Bullard combined for 51 points as the Mount earned an overtime victory over Sacred Heart, 68-63. Powell submitted the game-tying layup and the duo scored eight of the team's nine overtime points.
- The efforts of Powell and Bullard mark the first two-person, 20-point efforts since Kendall Bresee and Kayla Agentowicz did it against Maryland Eastern Shore in 2021.
- Combined with the victory against Iona, last Saturday's game against Sacred Heart marks the first road sweep for the Mountaineers this season, improving to 5-8 away from home. It is also the first win streak since the team defeated Canisius and Niagara in mid-January.
SCOUTING THE STAGS
- Fairfield has two standout performers in Kaety L'Amoreaux and Meghan Andersen. L'Amoreaux ranks third in the MAAC for points per game at 19.0, and Andersen is third at 16.7. Last week, the junior Andersen finished with 40 points in a lopsided victory over Marist.
- The Stags have several more impactful players including Cyanne Coe who's shooting 65.9 percent from the field and leading with 5.5 rebounds, and three-point specialist Jillian Huerter, shooting 39.6 percent beyond-the-arc.
- In recent weeks, the team is without the services of one-time MAAC Player of the Year Janelle Brown – inactive since January 31.
THE MAAC PICTURE
- Mount St. Mary's now has a standalone spot in the top six, situated for a bye at the upcoming conference tournament.
- Fairfield has already clinched a postseason berth and holds second place, with their lone loss coming to first place Quinnipiac.
ALL-TIME SERIES
- Fairfield has the upper hand in the series with an 11-1 lead and are the only team that the Mount has yet to defeat in MAAC play.
- There have been two close calls – a 61-59 winner by the Stags' Emina Selimovic in 2024 that overcame a double-digit Mount lead, followed by a 49-48 score in the MAAC semifinals won on a L'Amoreaux layup.
UP NEXT
Mount St. Mary's heads to Buffalo next week, battling Niagara Thursday (Feb. 19) and Canisius Saturday (Feb. 21).
