EMMITSBURG, Md. (January 29, 2026) – Mount St. Mary's women's water polo opens the 2026 spring campaign with a three-game slate at the Princeton Invitational, facing off against Indiana and Princeton on Friday, January 30 while eventually wrapping up the invitational against Brown on Saturday, January 31.
A LOOK BACK AT 2025
The Mountaineers ended the 2025 regular season with a 16-14 overall record while posting a 4-7 record in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. With wins against VMI, Villanova, and a series win against Siena, the Mount booked their spot in the first round of the conference playoffs against LIU.
In Poughkeepsie on April 25, 2025, the Mountaineers recorded a 13-11 win over the tournament No. 2 seed Sharks, with the Mountaineers ripping off 12 goals in the final three quarters after being shut down 5-1 in the first quarter by LIU. After their comeback win, the Mount suffered a 17-10 defeat at the hands of the No. 1 seed Wagner Seahawks, ending their run in the playoffs in the semi-finals.
SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
Indiana travels to New Jersey off the back of a perfect 5-0 start to the season. The Hoosiers recorded two wins at Polopalooza in Fresno, California, defeating No. 7 Fresno State 11-10 and No. 8 UC Irvine 8-7 over four quarters. Last weekend at the Bruno Classic, Indiana recorded three wins against Siena, Villanova, and a 12-9 win over No. 22 Brown.
Brown has started their 2026 campaign with a 3-1 record, starting the year with an 11-8 win over Iona in Providence, Rhode Island. The Bears went 2-1 at their home invitational, recording wins against LIU and Villanova while only falling to the previously mentioned Hoosiers.
Heading into their home invitational, Princeton started the year with a resounding 13-9 win over LIU. At their home pool, the Tigers will play a slate of games including Marist, Santa Clara, Siena, and Wagner along with the Mount.
ALL-TIME RECORD
The Mountaineers have a career record of 0-4 against Princeton while recording a 0-2 record against Brown, last playing the Bears in the spring of 2022. Friday's game against the Hoosiers will be the first ever meeting between Mount St. Mary's and Indiana in program history.
