Lynchburg, Va. — (January 24, 2026) Mount St. Mary's University track & field athletes delivered standout performances this past weekend at the 2026 Liberty Open held at the Liberty Indoor Track Complex.
Leading the way was
Laura McConville, who claimed first place in the women's 5000-meter run with a time of 17:39.15. Other top performers for Mount St. Mary's included
Maeve Parrish, who finished third in the women's 1000-meter run with a time of 2:10.33, and Ruhika Bhat, who placed fourth in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.15 seconds. In the women's mile,
Courtney Dickens finished fourth in 5:07.85, while
Elizabeth Freymann took fifth in 5:07.87, giving the Mountaineers two athletes in the top five of that event.
On the men's side, Ethan Villaver secured third place in the 5000-meter run with a time of 17:23.74.
Garrett Wilkerson recorded one of the top performances of the season in the 200-meter dash, finishing with a time of 22.07 seconds, ranking him third in the MAAC this year. In the pole vault,
Ethan Demeter cleared 4.90 meters (16 feet, 0.75 inches) to finish second in a competitive field. The Mount St. Mary's men's 4×400-meter relay team, composed of
Abdulazeez Iyiola,
Garrett Wilkerson,
Draelyn Crawford, and
Joseph Poleate, finished fifth with a time of 3:19.62.
