Mount St. Mary's Dance Team Claims Multiple Titles, Earns National Bid at DTU Eastern Regionals

NEWARK, N.J. (January 12, 2026) – The Mount St. Mary's Dance Team turned in a standout performance at the Dance Team Union (DTU) Eastern Regionals on Sunday, January 11th, capturing multiple top finishes and earning an automatic bid to The College Classic National championship.

The Mount claimed first place in Pom and first place in Team Performance, while also finishing second in both Hip Hop and Jazz.  Competing against a strong collegiate field, the team's performance was one of the most successful showings in program history.

Capping off the event, Mount St. Mary's earned the Best Collegiate Performance Award, presented to the collegiate team with the highest overall score across all divisions.  With the honor, the Mount secured an automatic berth to DTU College Classic Nationals scheduled for April in Orlando, Florida.

Head Coach Tara Bowman praised the team's commitment and rapid growth:
"I love this team and the work they put in every day.  Their dedication and effort have been outstanding. For this to be only our second season as a Division I program and already earned a national bid is extremely impressive, and I'm incredibly proud of them along with our lead choreographer Melanie Sirbaugh who has put together our award winning routines."

The national championship appearance will mark the first time the Mount St. Mary's Dance Program competes on a national stage.

Fans can see the Mount Dance Team perform at all men's and women's basketball home games inside Knott Arena throughout the season.  Support the Mount as the team prepares for its historic run to nationals.
