EMMITSBURG, Md. (February 20, 2024) – Mount St. Mary's welcomes Melanie Jerome as an assistant coach for the Dance Team.
Jerome learned dance at numerous schools – Savage Dance Company, Baltimore School for the Arts, and most recently at George Mason, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance. At GMU, Jerome studied in multiple facets including ballet, modern and contemporary, along with training in choreography and improvisation.
Altogether, she brings 20 years of experience to the Mount, both in commercial ventures and in concert dance experiences. Performance credits include several collegiate showcases at George Mason and Lar Lubovitch's 50
th anniversary feature at the Joyce Theater in New York City. In the sports arena, she spent time with the Tennessee Titans Cheerleaders, serving in a dance role in 2021 and 2022.
Beginning in 2019, she put her choreography skills to good use, including time with Duke's Dance Team this year, as well as various competitive dance squads and large POMS cheer teams. For the past five years Jerome has also worked with college level BFA preparatory classes and supervised rehearsals with other choreographers.
