EMMITSBURG, Md. (September 26, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's women's rugby resumes their 2025 home campaign with a match against Queens on Saturday. After their loss to Wheeling last weekend, the Mountaineers own a record of 2-1-1.
MOUNT UPDATE
Mount St. Mary's fell to last year's national champions, Wheeling, by a score of 62-0 in West Virginia. Before that, the Mountaineers posted a 22-14 win against Penn State, dismantling the Nittany Lions defense at home on September 13.
Four different Mountaineers reached the try zone against the Nittany Lions.
Neely Denlinger was the first to cross, followed by
Anita Manglona.
Shaniah Mayers completed a conversion on the Manglona try. Heading into the break, the home side led the Nittany Lions 12-0.
Zy'Quaria Climons scored the third try of the afternoon for Mount, and
Victoria Holmes guaranteed victory by securing a try with four minutes remaining on the clock. Those scores were enough to withstand two scores by Penn State and earn the victory.
SCOUTING THE ROYALS
Through three games of the 2025 season, Queens have recorded a 0-3 record with a point differential of 224-7. The Royals game against Guilford College on September 20 was cancelled, inhibiting Queens from playing their fourth game of the year.
ALL-TIME RECORD
The Royals retain a record of 3-1 over the Mountaineers, with their last matchup yielding a 79-7 win for Queens in Charlotte, North Carolina on October 5, 2024.
