EMMITSBURG, Md. (September 12, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's women's rugby host Penn State on Saturday, September 13 with a 1:00 p.m. kickoff on Echo Field. After last week's 17-17 draw with Sacred Heart, Mount women's rugby owns a record of 1-0-1.

MOUNT UPDATE

Against the Pioneers, the Mountaineers defense was tested early in the first half, after the Mount stopped a goal line push from the Pioneers in the opening fifteen minutes. The deadlock was broken with eleven minutes on the clock, when a buildup play on the goal line was touchdown by Koda Hall for the game's first points, with a Shaniah Mayers conversion put up on the board for a 7-0 lead. Three minutes later, Riley Sibilia scored, taking the ball and finding space in between the Pioneer back line.

Sacred Heart opened the scoring to start the second half, making it a 12-7 contest. Neely Denlinger started the Mountaineer scoring machine again with twelve minutes on the clock, after the sophomore broke free for the score. But a Sacred Heart try with a minute left tied things up again, with only a missed conversion holding off a Pioneer advantage, ending the game.

Hall, Sibilia, and Denlinger all recorded tries against the Pioneers, with Mayers going 1-3 on conversion attempts. The Mountaineers recorded 71 tackles in the match, with 31 tackles completed in the first half and 40 recorded in the second half. Mount St. Mary's also made eight lineouts, winning six of them.

ALL-TIME RECORD

The Mountaineers and the Nittany Lions have met on only one other occasions in XV's, with Penn State defeating Mount St. Mary's by a score of 38-5 on October 25, 2018. The two teams were scheduled to meet on May 2, 2020, but the breakout of the Covid-19 Pandemic cancelled the game in State College.
