Mount Softball Adds Seven Newcomers Ahead of 2026 Season

Emmitsburg, Md. (August 27, 2025)--Mount St. Mary's softball head coach Anna Nagro has announced the additions of seven newcomers for the 2025-26 school year.  The list of newcomers includes Bella Colangelo (Stafford, Va./Colonial Forge), Erin Cromwell (Honey Brook, Pa./Twin Valley), Janie Lofland (Paoli, Pa./Conestoga), Sharon Manni (Leeseburg, Va./Loudon County), Zoe Pachoca (Clarksville, Md./River Hill), Sophia Vlahos (McKinney, Texas/McKinney Boyd) and Emmaleigh Zagrodnicheck (Charlotte Hall, Md./St. Mary's Ryken).

"We're excited to welcome this freshman class and their families into our Mount Softball community," said Nagro.  "This talented group is ready to contribute right away with skills across every part of the game. Each player has competed and won at high levels and brings valuable experience to our program. They are strong students, great teammates, and genuinely good people. This class loves The Mount and will be a joy to watch on the field."

Cromwell was named BCIAA All-Conference in 2025 after earning All-Division honors in each of her first three seasons at Twin Valley.  She posted a career .3422 average with 13 home runs and 69 RBI while adding 441 strikeouts, 45 wins and a 2.74 ERA in the circle.  She helped leader her team to the PIAA 5A quarterfinals as a senior.

"Erin Cromwell is a strong, athletic pitcher who can contribute both on the mound and at the plate," noted Nagro. "She brings incredible power and adds versatility to our pitching staff. With multiple tools at her disposal, she will be a valuable asset. We look forward to helping her grow into a Division I player within our program."

Colangelo earned All-District, All-Area and All-Region honors at Colonial Forge High School.  As a junior, she hit .500 with five triples, breaking the school's single-seaon hit record.

"Isabella Colangelo brings elite power at the plate and with her arm in the field. She finds a way to put the bat on the ball and has a strong hitter's mentality. Whether playing first base or the outfield, her physical presence and strength are clear assets. We look forward to refining her skills and seeing her become a consistent difference-maker in our program," said Nagro.

Lofland is a three-time First Team All-Area and All-Central League selection after a four-year career at Conestoga High School.  She posted a .425 average as a senior with 23 stolen bases and 32 RBI.  For her career, she posted 136 hits with 121 runs scored and 73 steals while batting in the leadoff position all four seasons.  She hit .549 as a junior after a .462 mark in her sophomore campaign.

" Janie Lofland is a gritty, athletic shortstop with speed, instincts, and the ability to spark the offense as a leadoff hitter. She adds to our athletic and fast infield and is someone who finds herself in the middle of all the action. We're excited to watch her develop her game and play an important role in our bright future," said Nagro.

Manni joins the Mountaineers as a four-time All-District honoree at Loudon County High School.  She posted 135 career hits in high school, and was named Second Team All-Distrct at shortstop this past season.  Manni's sisters Jesslyn (Track and Field) and Brianna (Softball) are both graduates from Mount St. Mary's.

"Sharon Manni is a quick and versatile infielder who plays with great instincts, composure, and consistency," said Nagro.  "She is hard to stop at the plate and on the bases. Offensively, she excels from the left side as a true triple threat. Defensively, her ability to know the game from multiple positions sets her apart from others. It's been a long time coming for Sharon, and we are excited to finally watch her thrive here at the Mount."

Pachoca was a four-year letter winner at River Hill High School, posting a career .460 average with 46 extra base hits and 100 RBI.  She scored 128 career runs at River Hill, including a single-season record of 46.  She was named First Team All-County in 2024 and 2025 after earning Second Team honors in 2023.  She was an All-Met Second Team selection by the Washington Post as a junior while earning honorable mention honors as a senior.  She was a Second Team All-Met selection by the Baltimore Sun the past two years.

"Zoe Pachoca is a dynamic athlete who can really do it all and contributes in all facets of the game. She runs, hits, and defends with strong fundamentals. Zoe can play multiple positions but will especially elevate our outfield with her great range and strong arm. We're confident she will continue to elevate her game and become a steady force in our program's growth," said Nagro.

Vlahos was a four-year letterwinner at McKinney Boyd High School, earning All-District 5-6A honors.  A member of the All-Distrct team in 2025, she is also a member of the U22 Greek National team.  Vlahos hit .561 with 82 RBI over her high school career at the plate.  In the circle, she compiled a 1.01 career ERA while holding the opposition to a .155 batting average.

"Sophia Vlahos joins us as a true dual threat," noted Nagro.  "She is a skilled pitcher with a powerful bat and experience competing at the highest national levels. Her competitive energy and winning background will immediately strengthen both our pitching staff and lineup. We're excited to develop her talents and watch her become a key piece of our program's future."

Zagrodnicheck was a three-time First Team All-WCAC selection at St. Mary's Ryken High School.  She earned a First Team All-Met selection by the Washington Post in 2024 while earning honorable mention honors in 2023 and 2025.  Zagrodnichek recorded a 1.18 ERA with 418 strikeouts in 224.2 career innings pitched.  She led her team to conference runner-up finishes in each of the past three seasons.

"Emmy Zagrodnichek is a deceptive pitcher with swing-and-miss stuff and the ability to challenge any lineup. She competes with command and composure, bringing an underrated edge that's ready to shine. We're eager to see her develop into a high-impact Division I pitcher and play a big role in our team's future success," said Nagro.
