EMMITSBURG, Md. (August 26, 2025) – Kicking off the 2025 home schedule for themselves and the university, Mount St. Mary's women's soccer welcomes Shepherd to Waldron Family Stadium for a Wednesday evening showdown.
Admission to soccer matches at Waldron are free to attend this season. For regular season games, no outside food or beverage is permitted to be brought onto stadium grounds, and in regards to pets, only service animals are permitted entry.
MOUNT UPDATE
Last Sunday at Penn, the Mountaineers had a promising first half against the Quakers before the home side cemented the game in their favor, earning a 5-0 final. The score marks two consecutive matches where the Mount finished the game goalless.
Taylor Simmons and
Cassidy Nichols notched goals in the season opener at Delaware.
Abigail Makela leads the keepers in saves with 12.
SCOUTING THE RAMS
Shepherd enjoyed 2024 with a spectacular record of 18-2-4, going 13-1-2 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. They advanced to the NCAA Division II Quarterfinals with wins over West Virginia State and Gannon in the tournament. The Rams combined for 50 goals last season, led by 12 from Lydia Gable and 10 from Sarah Peternel.

Mount St. Mary's and Shepherd are meeting for the first time in a regular season match.
LOOKING AHEAD
Staying at home, the Mount play hosts to Delaware State Sunday (Aug. 31). The game is a rematch of a 2024 contest in Dover, won 2-0 by the Mountaineers.
