EMMITSBURG, Md. (July 23, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's University is honored to host a special international rugby scrimmage featuring the USA and Fiji Women's National Teams this Friday, July 25, at Echo Field. Kickoff is at 10:30 a.m., and the event is free and open to the public, including members of the media.
The USA Women's National Team has called Mount St. Mary's home for the entire month of July as they prepare for the 2025 Women's Rugby World Cup in England. The Fiji Women's National Team arrived on campus Sunday and will train at The Mount for eight days as part of their final preparations. These elite athletes represent two of the top 15 teams in the world, with the USA currently ranked 9th and Fiji 14th in global standings.
This high-level rugby scrimmage presents a powerful opportunity for fans, students, and especially young girls and women to witness the highest level of international competition up close. It also celebrates the Mount's role as a high-performance training destination, offering elite facilities and a supportive environment that cultivates excellence.

The Mount community will continue to honor and support USA Rugby and the Fiji Rugby Union in their build-up to the 2025 Rugby World Cup, which begins August 22 for USA (vs. England in Sunderland) and August 23 for Fiji (vs. Canada in York).
