EMMITSBURG, Md. (October 23, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's women's rugby rounds out their 2025 fall XV's schedule with a Match against La Salle on October 25, returning to Echo Field one last time for the year. The Mountaineers have already played La Salle earlier in the fall season, recording a 55-12 win against the Explorers on August 30.
MOUNT UPDATE
Against West Chester on October 18, the game remained scoreless through the first 15 minutes as both the Mountaineers and Golden Rams traded goal line pushes to no avail. The Mountaineers got the scoring started with 25 minutes left in the first half, as
ZyQuaria Climons touched the ball down for a try underneath the crossbar, with a
Shaniah Mayers conversion kick ensuing for an early 7-0 lead.
Anita Manglona got on the scoresheet six minutes later as the junior scrumhalf broke through the West Chester backline for the score. Another Mayers conversion kick seconds later made it 14-0 with 18 minutes left to play in the half. Just second before the elapse of the first half,
Koda Hall broke through the Golden Rams backline for another score and once again, Mayers slid a conversion kick through the uprights, sending the Mountaineers into the locker room with a 21-0 lead.
To start the second half, the Mountaineer defense shutdown a scoring attempt by West Chester, forcing a scrum in the process. The ensuing scrum ended in a penalty against the Golden Rams for a collapsing scrum as the Mountaineer forwards rolled their opposition into the collapse. A West Chester try with 34 minutes left in the half was cancelled out with 13 minutes on the clock as
Sydney Sibilia fought off opposing defenders for a try under the crossbar. The good conversion kick from Mayers put the Mount up 28-5 with 12 minutes left to play in the half.
Off the bench,
Victoria Holmes scored a try with a following conversion kick from
Neely Denlinger sailing through the uprights to put the Mount up 35-5. And with 30 second left in the final half,
Sydney Sibilia once again found room through the Golden Rams goal line defense, scoring the try with the referees whistle following soon after.
Sibilia recorded two tries against West Chester while Climons, Manglona, Hall, and Holmes all recorded solo tries in the contest. From the spot, Mayers went 4-4 on conversions after the try while Denlinger recorded a 1-2 day from conversion. The Mountaineers won 6 contested lineouts against West Chester while besting the Golden Rams in the scrum, winning 14 contests. The Mountaineers also recorded 98 tackles in open play, with
