Lily Myers’s Walk-Off Try Wins It For the Mountaineers Against La Salle

EMMITSBURG, Md. (October 25, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's were victorious n their Saturday afternoon match-up against La Salle, defeating the Explorers 36-32 in a modified, 13 versus 13, three period game. With the win, the Mountaineers finish their 2025 Fall XV's season with a 5-2-1 record.

The Mountaineers led 12-10 through the first period, as Olivia Woodward scored a double through the first 15 minutes along with a Shaniah Mayers conversion kick after the second try of the first, but a La Salle Try to start the half followed by a try with time elapsing to end the first made things close.

Koda Hall scored first for the Mountaineers in the second period, breaking through the Explorer backline while touching the ball underneath the uprights for a 17-10 lead. La Salle struck in succession twice with tries with nine minutes left in the period before Hall scored once more, helping Neely Denlinger to make the conversion, sending the Mountaineers into the final intermission up 24-20.

La Salle once again struck with back to back tries to start the period, taking a 32-24 lead with seven minutes on the clock. Riley Sibilia touched the ball down under the uprights after a battle with the Explorers goal line defense. And with a Neely Denlinger conversion after the try, the Mountaineers found themselves down 32-31 with four minutes remaining.

The ensuing Mount kickoff was fumbled for a knock-on by the La Salle offense, resulting in a Mountaineer scrum win on the seminary side of the field. With time elapsed on the clock, the ball was passed out from the Mountaineer scrum as the players battled for ground in front of the goal line. Finally, the ball was swung out to the left wing into the waiting hands of Lillian Myers, who touched the ball down in the goal, sending the players on field, the sideline, and the fans on the hill into delirium after the referee's final whistle seconds later.

Woodward and Hall led the scoring for the Mountaineers, notching two tries each within the first two periods. Sibilia scored one try in the third period, while Myers scored the winner. Mayers converted on two chances after the while Denlinger converted on one chance after the try.
