Matt McCann began his tenure as the Assistant Sports Information Director for Mount St. Mary’s University in October 2019. He works primarily with women’s basketball, men’s soccer, women’s bowling, baseball, and the school's aquatic programs (swimming & diving, water polo). McCann returns after graduating from the Mount with a degree in sport management in 2012.
McCann previously served a stint as the Director of Athletic Media and Public Relations for Mississippi Valley State University. In this capacity, he worked with all 15 of the Delta Devils’ athletic programs.
Prior to joining Valley, McCann served as Assistant Director of Media Relations for the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Athletics Department. In this role he worked as the school’s primary contact for volleyball, cross country, track & field and baseball, while assisting in other areas of the department, which includes serving as a departmental historian.
During his time in Princess Anne, the Hawks athletic department has experienced social media expansion, improved video capabilities, and a department re-brand.
McCann joined Maryland Eastern Shore after three seasons working in minor league baseball. He most recently worked for the Bowie Baysox (Eastern League) as a Group Events Manager in 2013, his second tour of duty with the club after working as a Marketing Intern for 2011. McCann also served as promotions assistant for the Frederick Keys (Carolina League) in 2012, assisting in the marketing department.
In addition to his service for intercollegiate athletics, McCann has worked as an official scorer and stat stringer with the Spire City Ghost Hounds, Frederick Keys and Delmarva Shorebirds baseball teams.
