Leandros Misdrachis Named MAAC Men's Tennis Coach of the Year, Four Mountaineers Earn Second Team All-MAAC Honors

April 24, 2025—Mount St. Mary's head coach Leandros Misdrachis has been named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Coach of the Year, announced today by the conference office.  Filippos Zachiotis and Alexi Roy were named Second Team All-MAAC in singles while the doubles tandem of Aaron Thompson and Ryan Wagner also garnered Second Team All-MAAC honors.

Misdrachis, who was named the Mount's Interim Head Coach in September, was elevated to Head Coach in April.  Misdrachis led the Mountaineers to a 13-6 overall record and a 5-3 mark and a tie for second place in the MAAC standings this year.  The Mount men's tennis team had an eight-match win streak during the year, the longest since the program moved to NCAA Division I in 1988-89.

Roy, a freshman, earned Second Team All-MAAC honors while playing at the No. 2 spot in the Mountaineer lineup.  Roy finished the regular season with a 13-9 overall record and a 5-2 mark against MAAC opponents.  Roy posted a 9-4 record when playing at the No. 2 singles position.

Zachiotis, a senior, earned Second Team All-MAAC honors as well.  Playing at No. 3 singles, Zachiotis led the Mountaineers with a 15-7 record in singles play this season.  He went 6-2 against MAAC opponents, while posting an impressive 11-3 mark when playing at the third position in the lineup.

The Mount's doubles tandem of Aaron Thompson and Ryan Wagner also earned Second Team All-MAAC honors.  The duo went 10-2 overall and 7-1 in MAAC matches while competing at the No. 3 doubles position.  The pair ended the regular season on a five-match win streak.

In addition to the All-MAAC honors, the men's and women's MAAC All-Academic teams were also released with eight Mountaineers earning All-Academic team honors.

Emma Kaden, Ryan McCarthy, Bella Pescatore and Margherita Trolese each earned spots on the women's all-academic squad while Oscar Castro, Akarsh Gaonkar, Luke Papayoanou and Thompson were on the men's all-academic team.

The Mount men's tennis team earned the No. 4 seed at this year's MAAC Championships, and will face No. 5 seed Niagara on Friday, April 25, at 10:00 a.m. at the Mercer County Tennis Center in West Windsor, N.J.
