Fairfield, Conn. (April 13, 2025) — Mount St. Mary's men's tennis put up a strong fight at home but came up short in a 4-1 loss to Fairfield, in a match that featured several tightly contested battles and two unfinished singles contests.

The Mountaineers secured a win at No. 3 doubles as Ryan Wagner and Aaron Thompson defeated Andrew Immink and Will O'Brien, 6-3. However, Fairfield clinched the doubles point with wins at the top two positions. Akarsh Gaonkar and Alexi Roy narrowly fell 5-7 at No. 1, and Filippos Zachiotis and Lucas Evans dropped their match 3-6 at No. 2.

In singles, Akarsh Gaonkar earned the Mount's lone point with a hard-fought three-set win at No. 1, outlasting Sam Hodges 6-4, 3-6, 6-4. Fairfield recorded victories at No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5 singles to seal the match. Zachiotis pushed his opponent to three sets at No. 3 before falling 6-3, 3-6, 3-6. Evans and Thompson were defeated in straight sets.

Matches at No. 2 (Roy vs. Jessett) and No. 6 (Wagner vs. Aguiar) were left unfinished.
