Emmitsburg, MD (April 22, 2025) – The Mount St. Mary's men's lacrosse team will take on the Iona Gaels in their final game of the regular season. The game will be played at Waldron Family Stadium and will be broadcast on ESPN+
 
Mount Update
The Mountaineers were bested by Sacred Heart in their last contest, 13-10. Marcelo Carreiro led the offense in the game, scoring four of the Mount's goals. Sophomore Brody Atkinson is the Mount's leading goal scorer for the season (33) and ranks third in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) for goals per game (2.54). Mount's goalkeeper Bennett Wright ranks No. 1 in the MAAC for saves per game (14.77) and totals 192 saves this season. The team will be looking for its second MAAC win of the season, after beating Merrimack on April 12.
 
Scouting the Gaels
 Iona's latest contest was a fight against Manhattan, where the Jaspers took the win, 17-10. The Gaels have allowed double-digit goal totals in all but one game so far in their inaugural season. Iona matches the Mount's MAAC win total at one with six losses, and are 2 and 12 on the season. Iona's leading goal scorer, Cullen Lawry, has notched 25 goals for the season and totals 31 points.
 
Up Next for the Mount
MAAC playoffs begin on April 27 with the quarterfinals. This is followed by the semifinals on May 1, and the championship on May 3.
