POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (April 15, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's women's tennis wrapped up its 2024-25 campaign on the road Tuesday afternoon, dropping a 4-0 decision to Marist in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play.
The Red Foxes set the tone early by securing the doubles point. At No. 1 doubles, Cloe Clements Sorde and Lola Ungerman posted a 6-1 win over Bella Pescatore and Venus Tang. Jane Wright and Caterina Assi followed with a 6-3 victory at the No. 3 position against Valentine Mudry and Kaajal Ramisetty. The No. 2 doubles match between Mount's Margherita Trolese and Amari O'Brien and Marist's Viktoria Lorentzon and Ellen Zureick was left unfinished at 5-5.
In singles, Marist tallied straight-set wins on courts one, two, and six to secure the match. Assi defeated Tang at the top spot, 6-3, 6-3, while Clements Sorde overcame Trolese, 6-1, 6-4. Ella Lindsey clinched the team victory with a commanding 6-0, 6-0 win over Mudry at No. 6.
Three matches were left unfinished but showcased competitive efforts from the Mount. Ramisetty trailed Lorentzon 7-5, 2-1 on court three. At No. 4 singles, Pescatore led Zureick 6-4, 2-3, and O'Brien was ahead of Shresta 6-4, 1-2 on court five.
Mount St. Mary's finishes the season with a 2-19 overall record and a 1-7 mark in MAAC play. Marist improved to 11-7 overall and 4-3 in the conference.
