Fairfield, Conn. (April 13, 2025) — Mount St. Mary's women's tennis fell 4-0 to Fairfield on the road Saturday in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) action. With the result, the Mountaineers drop to 1-6 in conference play.
Fairfield secured the doubles point with victories at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots. The Stags' No. 2 team of Sarah Liu and Maeve Cassidy cruised to a 6-0 win, while Nicolette Loeffler and Lucie Tuttle edged Mount's Kaajal Ramisetty and Valentine Mudry 7-5 at No. 3. The top doubles match between Bella Pescatore/Venus Tang and Maria Gell/Victoria Mandma was tied 6-6 when it was halted.
In singles, Fairfield added three more points to clinch the match. At No. 1, Venus Tang retired early in the second set after dropping the opener, handing the point to Victoria Mandma. The Stags picked up straight-set wins at No. 5 and No. 6, with Lily Malinowski defeating Valentine Mudry 6-2, 6-1 and Maeve Cassidy blanking Emma Kaden 6-0, 6-0.
The matches at No. 2 through No. 4 singles were left unfinished. Kaajal Ramisetty was leading 1-0 in the third set at No. 2 after splitting the first two, while Bella Pescatore had taken the first set and was tied in the second at No. 3. Amari O'Brien was locked in a tight battle at No. 4, trailing 4-6, 5-5 when play ended.
Up next, the Mountaineers wrap up their regular season on Tuesday with a road match at Marist.
