HERSHEY, Pa. (April 6, 2025) — Mount St. Mary's women's tennis came up short in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action on Saturday, falling 4-0 to Sacred Heart at the Hershey Racquet Club.
The Mount (2-16 overall, 1-4 MAAC) dropped the doubles point after Sacred Heart earned wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. Amari O'Brien and Margherita Trolese battled in a tight match at No. 2 before falling 6-4, while Kaajal Ramisetty and Valentine Mudry were defeated 6-0 at No. 3. The No. 1 duo of Venus Tang and Bella Pescatore trailed 5-4 in an unfinished match when the doubles point was clinched.
In singles, Sacred Heart continued its momentum. Tang was forced to retire due to injury early in the No. 1 singles match, giving the Pioneers a quick point. Ramisetty fell 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3, and O'Brien dropped a competitive match at No. 4, 7-5, 6-1, as Sacred Heart secured the match.
There were positive signs for the Mount, including a dominant opening set from Pescatore at No. 5, who led 6-0, 2-1 when play was stopped. Trolese was also in the middle of a strong fight at No. 2, dropping a close first set in a tiebreak and tied 2-2 in the second. The No. 6 singles match was not played.
Mount St. Mary's returns to MAAC play on Saturday, April 12, when it travels to face Quinnipiac.
