EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 22, 2025) – Beginning their outdoor season, Mount St. Mary's track & field enjoyed a strong showing at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational. Several competitors won events, with others posting top finishes.
Leading the pack was
Brandon Falconer, winner of the men's javelin at 69.02 meters. The first place effort is good for the second best showing in Mount history, two meters shy of Brian Sagendorf's record setting performance at the 2021 NCAA East Regional.
Joining him as a victor was
Keighan DeCoff who took the discus with a throw of 41.83 meters.
Tierney McCarroll won the women's javelin at 41.71 meters as well. Camyrn Jones-Howard won the Division 2 high jump, and
Jacey Hentz won the Division 2 triple jump.
Numerous Mountaineers finished second in their respective races.
Elizabeth Freymann took runner-up in the 800m (2:14.97),
Courtney Dickens for the 3000m (10:38.00),
Rebecca Weir for the javelin (41.17 meters),
Will Stephenson in the 110m hurdles (14.61 seconds),
Abdulazeez Iyiola for the 400m hurdles (55.62 seconds),
John Ruona in the 3000m steeplechase (9:38.69),
Dante Elliott in the high jump (2.00 meters), and
Tyler Cash in the pole vault (4.40 meters).
The 4x200 meter relay also finished second, with the team of
Harrison Akoarrey,
Josh Smith,
Preston Moody, and Iyiola running the event in 1:26.24. The men's 4x100 relay finished third and the 4x800 relay finished fourth. On the women's side, the 4x100 and 4x800 units each captured fourth place efforts.
Members of the team will compete at either the Towson Spring Invitational or the Navy Spring Invitational next weekend.
