Emmitsburg, Md (February 7, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's will host Long Island University (LIU) for their 2025 home opener at Waldron Family Stadium on Saturday, February 8 at noon.

Mount Update
The Mountaineers began their season with a win over Queens University last Saturday (Feb.1), 14-9. In that game, the Mount had six different goal scorers, with Brody Atkinson holding the top spot with six. Goalkeeper Bennett Wright held down the cage with 11 saves.

The Mount will be looking to make history by improving to 2-0 for the first time since joining D1 in 1989.  The team has started 1-0 seven times, but has never secured a second win.

Scouting the Sharks
The Sharks have been ranked No. 3 in the Northeast Conference (NEC) Preseason Poll to start the season. LIU's first competition was on February 4 against Rutgers University, when the Scarlet Knights downed the Sharks 17-3. Ben McIsaac scored two goals for the Sharks while Mark Regan secured one in the loss.

Series History
LIU holds the historical advantage over the Mount with a 3-1 record. In the latest match, the Sharks defeated the Mount, 13-6, in March 2024.

Up Next for the Mount
Pending the weather, the Mount will return to Waldron Family Stadium on February 11 for a game against St. Bonaventure at 1 PM.
