EMMITSBURG, Md. (February 27, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's women's water polo begins their matches at the Convergence Tournament in California on Friday with their first-round match against Cal State Fullerton slatted for February 28 at 2:30 p.m. ET. With their win against California Lutheran on Wednesday, the Mount moves to 10-3 while being on a three-game win streak.
MOUNT UPDATE
Yesterday in Thousand Oaks, California, the Mountaineers defeated the Regals of California Lutheran by a score of 13-10.
Anita Radaelli recoded four goals and with an assist followed by hat tricks from
Beatrice Vieira,
Anna Kegel, and
Rebecca Valentine. Radaelli also added on an assist and completed three steals followed by two assists and a steal from Kegel.
Leilani Horan notched four total assists against California Lutheran.
Olivia Fernie recorded 10 saves against the Regals with nine saves at full strength and a player down save.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Cal State Fullerton has so far recorded a record of 9-8 while playing ranked competition in No. 5 Hawaii, No. 15 UC Santa Barbara, No. 18 San Diego State, No. 10 Arizona State, No. 8 UC Davis, and No. 1 Stanford.
Heading into the tournament, San Diego State has been ranked No. 19 in the country while accruing a record of 7-5. They have accrued wins against No. 25 California Baptist and No. 23 Pomona-Pitzer while playing against No. 13 Arizona State, No. 15 UC Davis, No. 10 Long Beach State, and No. 17 San Jose State.
Loyola Marymount is also ranked heading into their match up with the Mountaineers, with the No. 10 Lions earning a 8-8 record while playing against fellow ranked competition in No. 3 Southern California, No. 5 Hawaii, No. 12 Arizona State, No. 21 UC Davis, No. 15 Santa Barbara, and No. 6 UC Irvine.
And Pomona Pitzer has recorded a record of 3-5 with wins against Fresno Pacific, Azusa Pacific, and Biola. The Sagehens have also faced off against UC Irvine, UCLA, and Cal State Fullerton.
