EMMITSBURG, Md. (December 28, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's women's basketball looks to improve to 3-0 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) in a road test at Merrimack.
MOUNT UPDATE
- Eight days ago, the Mount stormed out to a 12-0 run which helped fend off an Iona charge to win 65-55 at Knott Arena.
- Gabrielle Kennerly registered her first career 30-point game in the victory. She becomes the 17th player in Mount St. Mary's to achieve the feat.
- Jaedyn Jamison and Wesleigh Ferguson set career highs in rebounding with a respective 12 and 10. Berlynn Carlson added her own career high of nine boards to come within a rebound of a double-double.
- The Mountaineers outhustled the Gaels on the boards, 49-44. They are 5-1 when leading in the rebound category, and 1-4 when the competition outpaces them.
- Mount St. Mary's is one of six teams to start 2-0 in the MAAC, joining Fairfield, Quinnipiac, Sacred Heart, Siena, and Saint Peter's.
SCOUTING THE WARRIORS
- Merrimack was projected to finish eighth in the preseason conference poll, and are 3-7 with victories over UMass Boston, Northeastern, and Dartmouth.
- The Warriors are a prolific offense, averaging the second most points in the MAAC, but struggle on defense allowing the ninth most points per game.
- Mia Fiore is the Warriors' leading scorer with double digit efforts in eight of their last nine games. The sophomore is third amongst teammates in rebounding.
- Madison Roman and Oralye Kiefer play big roles for the team as well, with help from leading assister and stealer Paloma Garcia.
ALL-TIME SERIES
- Mount comes into the game on a five-game winning streak and lead the series, 5-1.
- After Merrimack took the first meeting between the teams, the Mountaineers swept the final two season series as Northeast Conference competitors, as well as their first MAAC contest.
