MOUNT STORY LINES
  • Mount St. Mary's lost a physical game to Drexel, 75-67, on Friday night in Philadelphia.  Xavier Lipscomb led the Mount with 16 points and six assists while Trey Deveaux chipped in 14 points and Arlandus Keyes 12 in the game.  Drexel opened the second half with a 15-to-2 run to build an 18-point advantage.  The Mount fought back, pulling within four in the closing minute, but Drexel was able to hold on for the win.  The Mount committed a season-high 23 turnovers in the game, leading to 31 Drexel points.
  • This will be the Mount's first-ever matchup with Penn State Brandywine.
  • Mount St. Mary's is 11-0 all-time against non-NCAA Division I opponents since moving to Division I in 1988-89.  Last season, the Mountaineers opened the year with a 98-62 home win over Notre Dame of Maryland.  The Mount's margin of victory in the 11 non-Division I victories is 27.4 points.
  • This is the final non-conference game of the season for the Mountaineers.  The Mount is 3-7 so far in non-conference action, compared to 7-4 a year ago.  The Mount's non-conference wins have been at home against Howard (79-75) and road wins at Saint Francis U (74-66) and Loyola (81-73).
  • The Mount committed a season-high 23 turnovers in the loss at Drexel on Friday night.  It was the third time this year the Mount has committed 20 or more turnovers in a game.  The Mount is 364th in the nation in turnover percentage (24.3).
  • Xavier Lipscomb has scored 32 points on just eight shots over the past two contests.  Lipscomb was 3-for-3 from the field, 2-of-2 from three-point range and 8-of-9 at the line for 16 points in the win over Loyola.  He followed by going 4-for-5 from the field, 1-of-2 from three-point range, and 7-of-7 at the line in the loss at Drexel.  Lipscomb is averaging 16.0 points over the two games, shooting 87.5 percent (7-of-8) from the field, 75.0 percent from three-point range (3-of-4) and 93.8 percent (15-of-16) at the foul line.
  • Trey Deveaux scored 14 points in the loss at Drexel, and is averaging 14.5 points over the past two games.  Deveaux is averaging 11.6 points per game this season, scoring in double figures in seven of his nine games played.  He has scored a season-high 15 points twice.
  • Up next, the Mount is back to Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play when Iona visits Knott Arena on Monday, December 29.
