MOUNT STORY LINES
  • Mount St. Mary's used a balanced effort to defeat Loyola, 81-73, in Baltimore on December 13, in the 180th all-time meeting between the teams.  The Mount now holds a 103-77 lead in the series, the most played rivalry in the state of Maryland.  Arlandus Keyes and Xavier Lipscomb each scored 16 points to pace the Mount in the win while Trey Deveaux added 15 and Justin Amadi 12.  The Mount scored nine consecutive points early in the second half to snap a 45-45 tie and take control of the game.  Back-to-back three-pointers from Arlandus Keyes and Xavier Lipscomb keyed the run that was capped by an Anthony Arrington pull-up jumper.
  • Mount St. Mary's and Drexel have split two all-time meetings between the two schools.  The Dragons defeated the Mount, 86-76, in the championship game of the MSM Holiday Tournament on December 29, 1988, in the last meeting.  The Mount's win in the series came 113 years ago, a 31-12 decision in Emmitsburg on Feb. 24, 1912.
  • Mount St. Mary's is 5-19 all-time against the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA).  The Mount has not played a team from the CAA since a 64-38 loss at Old Dominion on December 8, 2009.  The Mount's last win over a CAA team was an 81-70 double-overtime win over James Madison on November 14, 2006, at Knott Arena.
  • Junior guard Anthony Arrington made his debut for the Mountaineers at Loyola after missing the first 10 games due injury.  Arrington, a transfer from Wofford, finished with eight points, three rebounds and two assists in 18 minutes of action.
  • Xavier Lipscomb needed just three field goal attempts en route to his 16-point effort in the victory at Loyola.  Lipscomb finished 3-for-3 from the field, 2-for-2 from three-point range, and 8-of-9 at the charity stripe in the win.  He is one of five players in NCAA Division I this season to score 16 or more points on three or less field goal attempts.  Lipscomb has scored in double figures in each of the past three games, averaging 12.7 points over that stretch.
  • Justin Amadi just missed a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds in the Mount's 81-73 win at Loyola.  Amadi is averaging 14.3 points and 8.5 rebounds over the past four games, shooting 55.3 percent from the field.  He posted season highs of 21 points and 10 rebounds in the Mount's win over Howard on November 29.
  • Mount St. Mary's returns home to face Penn State Brandywine at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 21.  Tickets for that matchup are available here. The Mountaineers return to MAAC play when Iona visits Knott Arena on Monday, December 29, at 7:00 p.m.
