FAIRFIELD, Conn. (March 1, 2026) – Mount St. Mary's won out in their final regular season game of the year in Connecticut against Fairfield, defeating the Stags by a score of 69-47. With the win, the Mountaineers round out the 2025-26 MAAC regular season with a record of 15-16, recording an 11-9 record in the conference.
Defeating the Stags on Sunday afternoon handed the Mountaineers a first-round bye in this year's Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Playoffs. The Mount now faces off against Siena in the MAAC Quarterfinals on Saturday, March 7 at 8:30 p.m. in Atlantic City.
The Mount started the game on an 8-2 run against Fairfield through the first media timeout, with Anthony Arrington jr.,
Arlandus Keyes,
Xavier Lipscomb, and
Trey Deveaux all contributing with the scores in the paint. After Fairfield created room in the paint, Keyes hit back with the first Mount three-pointer of the game followed by a layup on the fast break.
Fairfield cut the lead to six with 10 minutes remaining before Deveaux hit the Stags for 13 points in a span of three minutes, mixing up a concoction of layups and three-pointers to drive the Mount lead up to 16.
Justin Amadi and
Luke McEldon combine for scores through the final minutes of the half, aiding in the 39-25 lead that the Mount took into halftime.
The Stags started the second half on a mini, 8-0 run before the Mount scoring started again, with McEldon taking contact in the paint and recording the score. The combination of Amadi, McEldon, and Arrington all combine for layups in the paint before Keyes hit a big three-pointer to take a 17-point lead. The Mount capitalized on the next possession, as
Mason So hit a big three-pointer. Fairfield was hit with a technical foul in front of the home bench at 8:18, sending Deveaux to the charity stripe while converting on both shots.
Rounding out the game, the Mount stretched their lead to 24 points, while only giving up garbage time points to the Stags. But the offensive pressure was to much for the Stags to handle as the Mount rounded the game out, clinching the first-round bye.
Deveaux led the field with 19 points, going 6-8 from the field and 5-5 from the free-throw line. Keyes also scored 15 points, going 6-14 from the field and dishing out a team leading four assists. And
