EMMITSBURG, Md. (December 18, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's women's basketball begins Metro Altantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) competition Friday as they host the Marist Red Foxes.
MOUNT UPDATE
- Rounding out non-conference play last Monday, the Mountaineers defeated Mercyhurst by an 81-52 final. 12 players scored, 10 dished out an assist, and nine collected a rebound. Gabrielle Kennerly led with 17 points, followed by a career high of 16 from Berlynn Carlson. Nyodie Guerard set career highs for steals and assists while Giana Hoddinott set one for made three pointers.
- With Monday's victory, the team is 4-5 this season and holding fourth place in the MAAC standings behind Iona, Fairfield, and Quinnipiac.
- Kennerly ranks seventh in scoring among MAAC competitors. Amber Bullard is seventh for rebounding and is fifth for blocks.
- Last season, the Mount went 12-8 in MAAC play and earned fourth place for the league. The team split its meetings with Marist.
SCOUTING THE RED FOXES
- Marist went 3-7 in non-conference play with wins over Holy Cross, Stony Brook, and Lafayette.
- Freshman Justine Henry is making a big impact for the Red Foxes, leading the team in points per game (13.3) and rebounding (7.5).
- Returning players like 2025 MAAC All-Rookie selection Danielle Williamsen, three-point threat Lexie Tarul, and point guard Jackie Piddock continue to contribute in the starting lineup, joined by Henry and Fairfield transfer Karly Fischer.
THE ALL-TIME SERIES
- Dating to 1990, Mount St. Mary's and Marist have 25 previous meetings, with the Mountaineers leading 19-6.
- Mount leads the series 4-3 since the teams began competing in the MAAC. All three of Marist's wins have come on the Knott Arena floor.
- Over the last two seasons the teams faced each other in the MAAC Championship. The Mount won the #6/#11 first round game in 2024 and the #4/#5 quarterfinal last season.
