EMMITSBURG, Md. (November 3, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's women's basketball continues their season-opening road trip with a trip to the Steel City and a battle with the Pitt Panthers.
THE LAST TIME OUT
- Nine different Mountaineers posted points in a tough opening battle, falling to #24 Richmond by an 83-49 score.
- Berlynn Carlson finished with the team lead in points, scoring 12, and tied Amber Bullard for the lead in rebounds with five.
- Bench scoring proved pivotal with 34 points coming from the reserves. That is the highest point total for Mount non-starters since November 28, 2021 against Clemson. Nyodie Guerard added nine points while Kayla Lindsey added seven, forming a trio with Carlson atop the Mount's leaderboard.
- Mount did outpace the Spiders in blocks with five rejections to Richmond's two. Bullard registered two blocks and Carlson, Jaedyn Jamison, and Erin Edmonds each added one.
- The team boasted a deep roster to open the year as 13 players took the floor in the contest
SCOUTING PITT
- In their season debut, Pitt fell to the Drexel Dragons by a 68-60 final.
- Mikayla Johnson led the Panthers with 19 points, going 7-for-20 from the field and 3-of-8 from downtown. Fatima Diakhate had the most rebounds with eight.
- 22 points and 15 rebounds came from Pitt's bench. Nylah Wilson had the highest point total with eight and Lauren Rust had the most rebounds with six.
- Pitt is looking to rebound from a 13-19 campaign last year with a 5-13 mark in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
THE ALL-TIME SERIES
- Pitt has won all nine meetings versus the Mount in a series that dates to 2006. Eight of those nine games took place in Pittsburgh, with one game in Emmitsburg back in 2007.
- The teams last played each other in 2016 – an 89-54 win by the Panthers. Three members of the Mountaineers posted double figures, led by 14 points from Mikal Johnson. Caroline Hummel had a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds.
LOOKING AHEAD
This coming Wednesday (Nov. 12), the Mount travels to Bucknell for a game with the Bison in Lewisburg. The following Saturday (Nov. 15) serves as the home opener against Morgan State.
