EMMITSBURG, Md. (November 3, 2025) – A new season begins for Mount St. Mary's women's basketball Tuesday with a challenging test, facing the ranked Richmond Spiders.

2024-25 RECAP
  • Finishing in fourth place in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), the Mount went 15-16 overall and 12-8 in league play. They defeated Marist in the quarterfinals of the conference tournament before falling to eventual champion Fairfield, 49-48.
  • Jo Raflo and Anna LeMaster finished with All-MAAC honors, and Gabrielle Kennerly took home a MAAC All-Rookie selection. Raflo earned a First Team nod while LeMaster earned a Third Team selection. Raflo became one of a handful of Mountaineers to collect 1,000 career points in three seasons, and LeMaster's 80 three-pointers are good for second-most in program history.
  • Starting in January, the team finished the year 13-7 and went 7-1 in the opening month of 2025.

THE 2025-26 MOUNTAINEERS
  • Half of the roster is back for another year. This includes Kennerly, one of three starters to come back alongside Giana Hoddinott and Jaedyn Jamison.
  • With the departures of Raflo and LeMaster to graduation, as well as transferring sixth woman Madison Ruff, the Mount is returning only 36.4 percent of all points scored from a year ago.
  • Kennerly was third on the team in scoring last season, while Hoddinott led in assists and Jamison finished second in rebounding.
  • Also back for 2025-26 are guards Nyodie Guerard and Wesleigh Ferguson, and forwards Teodora Ivanovic and Lenora Nkangwen.
  • Seven newcomers arrive in Emmitsburg, five of whom are transfer students. Alana Powell joins after a season in Omaha, Mikaela Parris after a year at Mississippi Valley, Kayla Lindsey after two seasons at D-II Barry, and Deniz Torgut following three years at VCU.
  • The fifth transfer comes from the JUCO ranks, where Amber Bullard led all junior college players in field goal percentage at 67.1 percent with Harcum.
  • A pair of true freshmen – Berlynn Carlson of Beaverton, Oregon and Erin Edmonds of Hopewell, Virginia – complete the roster for the year.

SCOUTING RICHMOND
  • The Spiders earned a tie with Kentucky for the #24 spot in the national rankings, accumulating a point total of 93. Finishing at 28-7 with a 17-1 Atlantic 10 mark, Richmond earned the No. 8 seed in the NCAA Tournament and toppled No. 9 Georgia Tech in the First Round.
  • Maggie Doogan piloted Richmond in points per game at 17 and rebounds per game at 7.1, and returns to the team for her senior season. The same is true for Rachel Ullstrom, who finished second in both categories with a respective 15.3 and 5.0.
  • The duo also combined to lead in steals and blocks as Ullstrom earned 50 swipes and Doogan 40 rejections.

THE ALL-TIME SERIES
  • Mount St. Mary's leads 6-4 over Richmond with most victories coming at the Division II level.
  • The singular D-I win came in 2019, playing in the Anne Donovan Classic. Jatarrikah Settle led the Mount with 23 points in the 75-67 triumph.
  • Beginning in 1982, the Mountaineers picked up five straight wins over the Spiders, with three victories by double digits.

LOOKING AHEAD

Tuesday's game is the first of a three-game road swing to start the year. The team heads to Pittsburgh Saturday (Nov. 8) and Bucknell next Wednesday (Nov. 12).
