Annie Carey enjoyed a week of success at the World Para Athletics Championships in New Delhi, India. Her achievements at the tournament included a gold and silver medal, a new American record, and a world record.
Competing in the T44 bracket, Carey began her campaign with the 100m final, finishing in 13.45 seconds to earn a silver medal. She followed that performance by breaking her own world record in the long jump with a distance of 5.20 meters. On Sunday, Carey capped off her events at the World Para Championships with a gold medal in the 200m final, clocking a time of 27.31 seconds — a new American record.
Carey's success at the World Para Athletics Championships adds to her extensive experience representing the United States as a Paralympic athlete, including her participation in the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris, France.
The indoor track and field team at Mount St. Mary's — where Carey is entering her third season — begins competing in December.
