Indoor Track Finds Success in Season Openers

EMMITSBURG, Md. (December 6, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's indoor track enjoyed numerous individual successes during meets at Bucknell and Navy, setting the tone for the season on their opening weekend. Neither team was affected by team scoring.
 
MEET HIGHLIGHTS
  • Ethan Demeter won the men's pole vault with an effort of 4.90 meters, succeeding in three jumps out of five. The sophomore earns the fourth best mark in Mount indoor history.
  • Rebecca Weir tied for second in the women's high jump at 1.65 meters for a personal record and a top five mark in the program record book.
  • Alena Murray finished third in the women's 60m with 7.66 seconds. The mark is good for fourth best in program history.
  • Garrett Wilkerson and Draelyn Crawford won their events, with Wilkerson taking the men's 400m in 48.90 seconds and Crawford winning the 800m in 1:54.19.
  • Additional top five performances include Camyrn Jones-Howard as the runner-up in both the long jump (5.69 meters) and triple jump (11.57 meters), Dante Elliot as runner-up for the men's high jump (2.01 meters), Bruno Rivera Borrallo as runner-up in the men's triple jump (14.12 meters), Mateo Bareerra (50.33 seconds) coming in fourth for the 400m, Elizabeth Freymann (5:05.24) and Courtney Dickens (5:11.57) to finish fourth and fifth in the 3000m,  Reese Olenik taking fourth in the long jump (6.94 meters), and Caleb Nelson placing fifth in the triple jump (13.25 meters).
  • The men's 4x400 relay team finished second at Navy as the group of Barrera, Abdulazeez Iyiola, Crawford, and Wilkerson ran the race in 3:20.11.
  • Iyiola also qualified for the men's 60 hurdles finals, taking fourth place with an 8.38 second run. Marta Gonzalez Alvarez qualified for the women's 60 hurdles finals, coming in sixth at 9.01 seconds.
  • At Bucknell, Kidus Chanyalew, Brandon Smith, and Patrick Griffin finishing 4-5-6 in the mile. Chanyalew finished in 4:46 flat, followed by Smith (4:54.67) and Griffin (5:05.00).
  • Additional top five finishers for the Bison Opener include Joshua Dean (5th, 200m, 22.72 seconds) and Michael Cunningham (5th, 3000m, 9:44.00).

The team returns for meets at Liberty and Bucknell the weekend of January 23-24.
