EMMITSBURG, Md. (October 31, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's bowling heads to Upstate New York this weekend, battling in the Niagara Brunswick Fall Open.
FORMAT: Taking place over two days, Saturday consists of traditional total pin fall matches. Sunday has four rounds of Quint Baker with a final round of best-of-seven.
PARTICIPATING TEAMS: Mount St. Mary's, Niagara (hosts), Bryant, Hilbert, Daeman, William Smith, Mercyhurst, Pitt-Bradford, Penn State Behrend, D'Youville
ABOUT THE MOUNT: Last weekend's Destination Florida tournament was a successful one for the Mount, going 8-5 across the tournament. This included three victories against top five ranked teams, defeating Nebraska and Youngstown State in the qualifying rounds and the Penguins again in the bracket round. During individual play,
Leah Varela and
Trishelle Leal Uribe led the scoring.
SCOUTING THE FIELD: Mount St. Mary's is one of two outliers in what is mostly a Great Lakes regional tournament. Most other schools are local to the Lake Erie region, hailing from Erie, Buffalo, Niagara Falls, and outlying municipalities. Alongside the Mount, Bryant is the additional school making a lengthy trek to the tournament.
Of all the teams, the Mountaineers faced Niagara and Bryant this year. They enter the tournament seeking their first win against either team.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE: Off from competition next weekend, the Mount remains in Maryland for their next event, bowling at Coppin State's Lady Eagles Invitational.
