EMMITSBURG, Md. (October 17, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's bowling earned a winning record of 6-4 over a grueling qualifying slate at Destination Florida. Along the way, the team defeated a pair of top five teams in the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) ranking) - #2 Nebraska on Friday and #4 Youngstown State on Saturday.
Four of those wins came on Friday as the Mountaineers toppled #21 Valparaiso, Nebraska, Prairie View A&M, and #19 Tulane. Scores made a steady increase throughout the day as the Mount became acclimated to a challenging pattern, topping off at 996 against the Green Wave.
Saturday's traditional play was anchored by junior
Leah Varela and senior
Trishelle Leal Uribe. Varela went over the 200 pin mark three times, including a 226 as the Mount defeated Youngstown State. Leal Uribe enjoyed a 255 game against Bryant and a 254 in the team's win over Texas Southern.
Kayleigh McMullen and
Piper Chalmers registered 200-plus scores against the Tigers as the Mountaineers combined for their highest score of the weekend so far at 1,063 pins.
