EMMITSBURG, Md. (October 23, 2025) – Ready for its second competition of the season, Mount St. Mary's heads to Orlando for Sacred Heart's Destination Florida Tournament.
FORMAT: Flipping the more standard format, Destination Florida begins with traditional play on Friday, followed by Baker qualifying on Saturday. Traditional team play composes Sunday with match play determining winners of each game.
PARTICIPATING TEAMS: Mount St. Mary's, Sacred Heart (hosts), Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Arkansas State, Bryant, Duquesne, Emmanuel, Florida A&M, Jacksonville State, Louisiana Tech, Maryville, North Carolina A&T, Nebraska, Prairie View A&M, Saint Anselm, Texas Southern, Tulane, UAB, UMES, Valparaiso, Vanderbilt, Wichita State, Youngstown State
ABOUT THE MOUNT: At Youngstown State's Penguin Classic, the Mount took home a 10
th place finish and picked up wins against Alabama A&M, Walsh, Western Illinois, and Coppin State. During individual play on Saturday,
Kayleigh McMullen had the highest series among the Mountaineers with a 1,027, capped off by a 230 to finish 18
th out of 124 bowlers.
Leah Varela also bowled all five games that day to earn a top 25 finish.
SCOUTING THE FIELD: The massive field of competitors keeps on many of the top teams that the Mount faced at the Penguin Classic. This includes the top six finishers from Youngstown State's event – champion Nebraska, runner-up Arkansas State, Jacksonville State, YSU, Vanderbilt, and Sacred Heart.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE: The last of three tournaments in as many weekends occurs November 1-2 when Mount St. Mary's travels to the Niagara Brunswick Fall Open in New York.
