EMMITSBURG, Md. (January 22, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's flag football has its first commitment in history, with Keira Speikes of Frederick, Maryland signing to join the program.
 
Speikes played tight end, linebacker, and running back for the Urbana Hawks, led by Nick Damoulakis. A team captain, she earned a spot on the All-County Second Team for Frederick County. In the classroom, Speikes is on the honor roll.
 
Mount St. Mary's announced the establishment of a flag football program on November 7, 2024. One month later, the program hired Sandi James as its first head coach.
 
The flag football team begins competition in the spring of 2026.
