EMMITSBURG, Md. (April 5, 2024) – As the final two weekends for women's water polo approach, Mount St. Mary's looks to embolden their position in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). Games against La Salle and Villanova will either aid or hinder that cause.
 
MOUNT UPDATE: A 3-4 MAAC record, and a sweep of Siena almost ensure the Mount's place in the postseason tournament, but a strong finish will improve their seeding. The team split their two home games on March 29, defeating the Saints and falling to the Marist Red Foxes. Ana Luisa Cotta led the team in goals and upped her season total to 61. Rebecca Valentine follows in the goal count at 47. Anita Radaelli leads in both assists at 44 and steals at 39.
 
THE COMPETITION: La Salle and Villanova compete for the third and final spot in the MAAC's Red Division as the regular season concludes. At present, the Wildcats hold a one-half game lead over the Explorers. La Salle stands 12-14 on the season and seek to reverse a two-game losing streak heading into the weekend. Villanova is 19-7 and coming off a victory over VMI.
 
PREVIOUS HISTORY: The Mountaineers have one win against each team, defeating the Explorers and Wildcats on back-to-back days in April 2023. They won 20-8 over La Salle and 13-10 over Villanova.  
 
UP NEXT: For the final weekend of the regular season, Mount St. Mary's travels to Poughkeepsie, New York, facing Marist and Iona.
