MOUNT UPDATE:Â Mount St. Mary's went 1-3 at the Carolina Classic hosted by the University of North Carolina last weekend.Â
Abigayle Perry's three-run walk-off homer lifted the Mount to a 4-1 victory over George Washington on Sunday. The Mount was edged by Lipscomb on Saturday, 6-5, with the Bisons scoring twice in the bottom of the seventh to secure the win.
ABOUT MARYLAND: Maryland went 2-2 last week at the Stetson Invitational with a pair of wins over Green Bay to move to 5-9 on the season. Mazie MacFarlane leads the team with a .351 average while Diamond Williams is hitting .326 with four home runs and 13 RBI. In the circle, Bri Godfrey is 3-0 with a 1.38 ERA in 25.1 innings of work while Courtney Wyche is 1-4 with a 2.63 ERA and a team-best 36 strikeouts in 29.1 innings pitched.Â
ABOUT OREGON: Â Oregon enters the weekend ranked 25
th in the nation while holding a 9-7 record this year. The Ducks went 3-2 last week at the Mary Nutter Invitational with wins over Long Beach State, Notre Dame and UCF. Kai Luschar leads the team with a .500 average (27-for-54) with 14 runs scored and 10 stolen bases. Valley Wong (.390, 3 HR, 12 RBI) and Ariel Carlson (.356, 4 HR, 20 RBI) and Alyssa Daniell (.311, 4 HR, 11 RBI) have provided the most pop at the plate. In the circle, Morgan Scott is 4-3 with a 2.51 ERA in 11 appearances and seven starts. Elise Sokolsky is 2-0 with a 0.68 ERA in three starts (10.1 IP).
ABOUT WASHINGTON: Washington enters the weekend ranked sixth in the nation with a 12-2 record this year. The Huskies went 4-1 last week at the South Florida Showdown. The only two losses for the Huskies this year are to No. 1 Oklahoma (4-3, 8 inn.) and #7 Oklahoma State (7-0).Â
ALL-TIME SERIES: The Mount will be playing Oregon and Washington for the first time in program history. The Mountaineers are 0-10 all-time against Maryland, but this is the first matchup wince the 2010 season. That year, the Terrapins posted a pair of two-run victories, 2-0 and 4-2, over the Mount on March 7. Five of the 10 matchups between the Mount and Maryland have been decided by two runs or less.
THE MOUNT VS. RANKED OPPONENTS: Mount St. Mary's will be playing a pair of teams that are ranked in the Top 25 at the Jane Sanders Classic. The Mountaineers are 0-11 all-time against ranked opponents with the last meeting coming against #10 Virginia Tech last season. The Mount was edged by Virginia Tech, 6-5, in the opening game of the twinbill on March 2 before falling 10-2 in game two.Â

LEAP DAY: The Mountaineers have posted a 1-8 record on Leap Day (Feb. 29) in program history. The Mountaineers fell to CSUN, 10-0, on Leap Day in 2020. The lone win on Leap Day came against St. Bonaventure, 7-0, on Leap Day in 2012.
PERRY'S CAREER MARKS:Â Senior shortstop
Abigayle Perry is in the Mount's top 10 in several career categories. Perry's 82 walks are already the Mount's all-time record while her 10 career triples are second on the list. She is tied for fifth all-time with 36 stolen bases while her 92 runs scored are good for seventh all-time at the Mount. So far this season, Perry is 5-for-22 (.227) at the plate with two doubles, a home run and a team-high six RBI. Her home run was a three-run walk-off blast in the bottom of the seventh in the Mount's 4-1 victory over George Washington.
KING STARTS STRONG: Elizabeth King has had a strong start at the plate for the Mount this season, hitting .333 with a .565 on-base percentage over the first eight games. King is 5-for-15 at the plate while starting all eight games, posting a pair of doubles and a home run. She has walked a team-high eight times and is tied for the team lead with four runs scored.
SCHMEHL CONTRIBUTING EARLY:Â Freshman
Sophia Schmehl has had a strong start to her collegiate career. She is 1-0 with a 0.78 ERA in two starts in her debut season at the Mount. She picked up her first collegiate win, allowing one run in 4.1 innings of work in the Mount's 7-3 victory over Monmouth. She allowed an unearned run in 4.2 innings in her second start, earning a no decision in the Mount's 4-1 win over George Washington.
