EMMITSBURG, Md. (December 28, 2024) – Playing one final non-conference game and their last match in the calendar year 2024, Mount St. Mary's women's basketball plays Morgan State in Charm City.
MOUNT UPDATE
In the weekend before Christmas, Mount St. Mary's took on their first two Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) opponents. They fell in overtime to the Marist Red Foxes at home before dropping a 76-61 decision to Fairfield.
Jo Raflo recorded the second double-double of her career, attaining 18 points and 10 rebounds in the contest with the Stags.
Anna LeMaster continues to lead the team in points per game with 12.4, and in three-pointers with 24. Her three pointers per game are tied for the second most in the MAAC.
Gabrielle Kennerly also registering top 10 in three pointers, ranking ninth. Raflo took the Mount's rebounding lead, improving to 5.1 per game after the double-double.
SCOUTING MORGAN STATE
Working through an active schedule, the Bears head into Monday ready to compete in their 15
th game. Among their six wins include victories over Towson, Central Connecticut, and Presbyterian. Last competing on December 19, Morgan State fell 56-39 to Cleveland State. Ja'la Bannerman leads a diverse scoring output, averaging double figures at 10.3 points per game. Laila Fair has 84 rebounds on the season – an average of 7.4 a contest.
THE ALL-TIME SERIES
There are 15 previous meetings between the Mountaineers and Bears. Morgan State holds a slight advantage, 8-7, in a series that dates to 1979. The sides last met in 2017, when the Bears defeated the Mount 75-67 in Baltimore.
