MOUNT UPDATE

In a wild contest, the Mountaineers went into overtime with the Mercyhurst Lakers, prevailing by an 88-83 final in Erie, Pennsylvania. Anna LeMaster had a career game, setting new highs for points with 25, free throws with eight, minutes at 40, and matching three pointers with five. Jo Raflo contributed 19 points with a career-high four steals, with Gabrielle Kennerly adding 18. Giana Hoddinott collected a career high for rebounds with six.

Competing in their third MAAC season, the team will look to earn 1-0 conference start for the first time. Mount's most recent 1-0 start in league play came in the Northeast Conference, defeating St. Francis Brooklyn to open the 2020-21 season.

LeMaster overtook the team lead in points per game, now averaging 12.5. Jaedyn Jamison holds the rebounding edge at 4.8, Hoddinott averages three assists a game for a team lead, and Raflo and Kennerly are tied with the most steals per game.

SCOUTING MARIST

The Red Foxes are rebounding from a tough 2023-24 season, going 5-5 in their first 10 games. Their last outing saw a two-game winning streak snap in a morning matinee loss at Holy Cross. Victories for Marist this year include Ivy Leaguers Cornell and Yale, along with a road win at North Dakota.

Lexie Tarul and Morgan Lee headline the scoring for the team, with Tarul holding a slight edge for the lead with 12.9 points. Lee averages 12.1 points and holds the lead in rebounding at six boards per game. Marist chucks over 24 three-point attempts each contest, with Tarul tallying 23 of the team's 67 makes.

THE ALL-TIME SERIES

Former NEC rivals, Mount St. Mary's and Marist have 22 meetings dating back to 1990. While the Mountaineers have a commanding 17-5 advantage all-time, Marist is 3-2 in the five MAAC meetings between them. Last season, the Mount won two of three encounters, including a 60-47 win at the MAAC Tournament.

The Red Foxes have won both MAAC games in Emmitsburg and hold the record for most points by an opposing player, when Kiara Fisher registered 44 in a game on January 19, 2023.

LOOKING AHEAD

Continuing their first MAAC weekend, Mount St. Mary's travels to Fairfield Saturday (Dec. 21). Tip-off is at 2 p.m. from Mahoney Arena.
