Emmitsburg, MD (October 22, 2024) – The Mounts men's lacrosse team has named
Mekai Nelson,
Brian Bradley, Seamus McCloskey, and
Nathanael Merchant as captains for the upcoming season.
Mekai Nelson
Nelson is a third-year long-stick midfielder with a huge defensive impact for the Mount. In his 2023 season, he played in 15 games, recorded 11 ground balls, and had 10 caused turnovers. In 2024, Nelson picked back up where he left off, playing in every game, with 14 ground balls including four in the season opener, and seven caused turnovers.
Brian Bradley
The junior midfielder from Garnett Valley, Pennsylvania came to the Mount and started playing immediately. In 2022, Bradley played eight games, with four groundballs recorded and one assist on the season. In his 2023 season, the midfielder played in four games with six groundballs, two caused turnovers, and his first collegiate goal versus Navy. Last year Bradley took on a heavier role, playing in 14 games, with 21 groundballs, five caused turnovers, one goal, and two assists.
Seamus McCloskey
McCloskey is a transfer graduate student who started at Dickinson College. He played in 43 games, starting in 41 of them. He also had one goal and one assist as a defenseman. McCloskey made an impact on the defensive side for Dickinson, recording 89 groundballs and 38 turnovers in his time there. After Dickinson, McCloskey had a two-game stint with Jacksonville University before transferring to the Mount.
Nathanael Merchant
The junior midfielder played in nine games his freshman season, recording three groundballs and one assist. In 2023, Merchant played in 14 games with one goal, one assist, 12 groundballs, and two caused turnovers. Last season, he played 15 games with another goal, two assists, and 13 groundballs.
