Mount St. Mary’s Bowling to Battle at Red Flash Invitational

EMMITSBURG, Md. (January 25, 2024) – Looking to follow up on a solid performance at the Northeast Classic, Mount St. Mary's bowling takes on a field of a dozen teams at the Red Flash Invitational.  
 
COMPETING TEAMS: Saint Francis University (hosts), Mount St. Mary's, Duquesne, Valparaiso, Mount Aloysius, Pitt Bradford, Pitt Greensburg, Penn State Altoona, La Roche, Saint Vincent, Hilbert, Morgan State
 
FORMAT: This weekend's tournament follows the standard format of five Quint Baker matches on Friday and five traditional games Saturday, both encompassing pool play and position rounds. Sunday is Baker match play, consisting of three rounds.  
 
ABOUT THE MOUNT: Battling in two of the toughest tournaments the team will face all year, the 15th ranked Mountaineers came away with a 15-11 record. A perfect bracket Sunday gave the squad an 8-5 showing from the Northeast Classic, which also included wins over #2 Vanderbilt and #3 Youngstown State. Their 217.8 average set a record for Baker average on a single day. In addition to their efforts at the Northeast Classic, the Mount possesses a 7-6 weekend from the Stormin' Blue & White and a tournament win at the Greater Pittsburgh Collegiate.
 
THE FIELD: Mount St. Mary's is one of three National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) Top 25 teams to appear at the Red Flash Invitational, with #8 Duquesne and #19 Valparaiso also participating. Host SFU and Saint Vincent also received votes. All 11 opponents have faced the Mount at least once in the program's history.  
 
UPCOMING SCHEDULE: After a weekend away from competition, the Mountaineers host the 6th Annual Mount Shootout and Clearview Lanes in Mount Joy, Pennsylvania February 9-11.
