EMMITSBURG, Md. (January 21, 2024) – Mount St. Mary's men's indoor track took fourth at the Bucknell Gulden Invitational, part of a split squad effort between there and Catholic University's Robert Comstock Cardinal Invitational.
Four Mountaineers took victories during the weekend. At Bucknell,
Arran Fahey took first in the pole vault with a posting of 4.65 meters, and Justin Sluijter earned a 7.31 meter long jump. At Catholic,
Emma Aller Espina took the women's long jump at 5.30 meters, and
Cyre Hooper prevailed in the men's triple with a jump of 14.14 meters.
Richard Gilchrist and
Joseph Poleate both qualified for the 60 hurdles finals, with Gilchrist finishing the runner-up with a time of 8.06 seconds. Poleate's effort of 8.47 seconds netted him fourth place. The men's team saw a pair of 60 meters finalists, one at each meet.
Todd Charles made the finals at Bucknell, coming in third at 6.90 seconds. Alexander Nwokoroku, competing at Catholic, came in sixth place earning a 7.20 second time.

th, 200m, 22.26),
Billy Cook (4
th, High Jump, 1.90 meters),
Najhayne Watson (5
th, Triple Jump, 13.20m) and
Logan Hart (5
th, Triple Jump, 11.09m) – all at Bucknell, along with
Madelyn Valpy at Catholic (5
th, Triple Jump, 11.17 meters).
Team scoring saw the men come in fourth at Bucknell with the women seventh. Both the men and women came in 12
th at Comstock.
Next weekend marks the Patriot Games, hosted by George Mason on Saturday, January 27.
