SPARKS, Md. (January 17, 2024) – Mount St. Mary's men's lacrosse senior defenseman Mitchell Dunham was named by USA Lacrosse as a Preseason All-American Honorable Mention ahead of the 2024 season.
 
The 2023 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Defensive Player of the Year and a First Team All-Conference recipient, Dunham paced the Mountaineers with 75 ground balls and a team best 32 caused turnovers last spring. At an average of two per game, his caused turnovers led the MAAC and were second-most for any Mountaineer in a season. He also added six points on the season, all coming from assists.
 
Entering his third season in Emmitsburg, the Hamilton, Ontario native already ranks fifth in program history for caused turnovers with 56, standing 39 shy of the school record set by Bryan McIntosh from 2018-21. In addition to receiving last year's accolades, Dunham was named to the Northeast Conference All-Rookie Team in 2022.
 
The Mount finished last year with an 8-8 record and a 7-2 mark in the MAAC. The 2024 season begins February 3 against Navy.
