Box Score Radford, Va. (August 27, 2023)—Mount St. Mary's women's soccer lost at Radford, 2-0, on Sunday afternoon. Goalkeeper
Klil Keshwar made a season-high 11 saves for the Mountaineers in the game.
The game started quickly with each team having scoring opportunities over the first 10 minutes. Keshwar made a diving stop in the third minute and added another save in the sixth minute.
Nathalie Mejia had her free kick from 25 yards out stopped in the fourth minute and
Nicole Wilson had a free kick go just high in the ninth minute.
Keshwar kept the Highlanders (2-2-0) off the board with three more stops, the final a nice save in the 34
th minute. Radford kept the pressure on, and just over 30 seconds later, June Stevens beat Keshwar to put her team ahead, 1-0. Ashely Loundermon started the play with a nice through ball down the right side to Hunter Rosenberg, who cut the pass to the middle of the box. Rosenberg's pass found Stevens, who was able to volley a low shot to the left corner just past the outreached arms of Keshwar.
In the second half, the Mount (0-3-1) had a pair of long shots stopped by Lexi Radvanyi before Keshwar made a nice stop in the 72
nd minute. Radford got the insurance goal in the 78
th minutes when Skylar Prosser scored on assists from Rosenberg and Eileen Albers. Rosenberg made a move down the left side, cut in toward the goal, fed Albers in the middle, who touched the ball back to Prosser who drove the shot home.
The final shot tally in the game was 22-to-6 in favor of Radford while the Highlanders also held an 8-to-2 edge in corner kicks. Jordan Phillips one save in the first half while Radvanyi had three saves in the second half for Radford with Keshwar turning away 11 shots.
The Mountaineers return to action on Friday, September 1, when Hampton visits Waldron Family Stadium on campus for a 2:00 p.m. contest. Prior to the game, the Mountaineers will honor this year's senior class.
