April 25, 2023—Mount St. Mary's freshman Maddie Coleman has been named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Softball Rookie of the Week.  Coleman went 2-0 with a 0.68 ERA in a pair of appearances this week for the Mountaineers.

Coleman opened the week with a complete-game victory in the Mount's 4-1 win over Maryland Eastern Shore.  In seven innings of work, she struck out six while allowing just four hits and zero walks to earn the win.  Coleman closed the week with a terrific relief effort as the Mount rallied for a 3-2 win over Siena in the complete of Saturday's halted game.  Coleman allowed just one hit in 3.1 innings of scoreless relief to earn the win against the Saints.

Coleman improves to 4-5 with a 2.03 ERA in 15 appearances and four starts this season.  She has recorded a pair of saves and is currently second in the MAAC in ERA behind teammate Avery Neuhart (1.61) while she leads the league with a .192 opponents batting average.

Mount St. Mary's (28-15, 11-3 MAAC) returns to the field on Saturday, April 29, with a noon MAAC doubleheader against Rider.
