Mount Indoor Track Has Three Winners at Penn State

February 4, 2023—Todd Charles, Richard Gilchrist and Dylan LaNoue captured first place finishes to pace the Mount St. Mary's men's and women's indoor track and field teams at the Sykes & Sabock Invitational hosted by Penn State on Saturday.  The Mount also had athletes competing at the Frank Corden Invitational hosted by Ursinus on Saturday with Michael Chipi taking home a first-place mark.

Charles won the 60m dash with a mark of 6.79 seconds after advancing to the finals with a time of 6.81 seconds.  Charles added to his day with a podium finish with a second-place time of 21.74 seconds in the 200m dash.   Gilchrist took home gold medal honors in the 60m hurdles while also finishing fifth in the 60m dash.  LaNoue was the winner in the triple jump with a leap of 14.97m (49' 1.5"). 

Arran Fahey was second in the pole vault (4.75m, 15' 7"), Will Stephenson third in the 60m hurdles (8.57), Daniel Reader third in the 400m (49.03), John Wang third in the 3,000m (8:23.62), Cyre Hooper third in the triple jump (13.52m, 44' 4.25") and Carter Holsinger fourth in the pole vault (4.25m, 13' 11.25").

For the women's team, freshman Zionna Perez-Tucker just missed a first-place nod by finishing second in the 60m dash with a time of 7.64 seconds, just .01 behind Penn State's Lauren Princz.  Jasmine Kidd finished in fifth in the 60m with a mark of 7.74 seconds.  Perez-Tucker added a fourth-place nod in the 200m with a time of 24.55 seconds.

At the Frank Corden Invitational, Michael Chipi took home first place in the 5,000m with a time of 15:27.06 while teammate Paul Fagnano was third (15:34.27).  Sarah Purdy added a second-place mark in the 60m hurdles (9.60),

Evyn Fitzgerald was fourth in the pole vault (3.05m), 10'), Darrien Coates fifth in the long jump (5.50m, 18' 1"),  Emma Strickland fourth in the 400m (1:01.96), Diamond Lewis fourth in the 60m (8.27), and Torian Neblett third in the 60m (7.21).  The Mount's women's 4x200m team of Alexis Zimmermand, Lewis, Samaa Moxey and Avery Ferron finished second

The Mount closes out the regular season on Friday, February 10, with athletes competing at the Redhawk Friday Night Showdown hosted by Susquehanna University.
