Dylan LaNoue Wins High Jump to Pace Mount Track on First Day of MAAC Indoor Championships

The Mount men's team is in second place while the women are in third after the first day of competition.

New York, N.Y. (February 18, 2023)—
The Mount St. Mary's men's and women's indoor track and field teams completed the first day of competition at the 2023 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships today at the New Balance Track & Field Center at the Armoy.  Dylan LaNoue captured a gold medal in the men's high jump to lead the way.  The men's team stands in second place after the first day of results while the women's team is in third place.

LaNoue provided the highlight performance for the Mountaineers, winning the high jump with a mark of 2.04m (6' 8.25").  Reginald Hankins finished third (1.91m, 6' 3.25") and Andrew Lamanna fourth (1.91m, 6' 3.25").

Leading the men's point scorers was Drake Tews, who collected a silver medal with a second-place mark in the long jump with a leap of 7.08m (23' 2.75").  Billy Cook was fourth in the long jump (6.75m, 22' 1.75") with Dylan Lanoue finishing in eighth (6.60m, 21' 8"). 

Qualifying for finals tomorrow were Todd Charles (60m, 200m), Nick Weaver (60m), Richard Gilchrist (60m), Daniel Reader (200m, 400m), Justyn Seivright (400m) and John Wang (mile).

In the men's standings, Rider leads with 65 points, followed by the Mount (38), Manhattan (32), Iona (26), Siena (13), Canisius (9), Saint Peter's (7) and Marist (5).

For the women's team, Evyn Fitzgerald won a silver medal in the pole vault with a mark of 3.36m (11' 0.25") with teammate Tara Coyne placing fifth.  Keigthan Decoff was sixth in the weight throw with a mark of 14.67m (48' 1.75").  Kayla Hackett brought home a third-place finish in the high jump (1.60m, 5' 3") with Rebecca Weir finishing fifth (1.60m, 5' 3") and Jaelyn Chevannes finishing eighth (1.50m, 4' 11").  Also scoring was Emma Aller Espina with an eighth-place nod in the long jump (5.38m, 17' 8").

Zionna Perez-Tucker advanced to the finals with the top times in both the 60m and 200m dash.  Jasmine Kidd (200m) and Dominique Jeffery (400m) also earned a spot in the finals on Sunday.

Rider leads the women's standings with 60 points, just one point ahead of second place Quinnipiac (59).  The Mount is in third with 31 points, followed by Manhattan (30), Iona (19), Siena (19), Canisius (5), Marist (4) and Saint Peter's (1).

The meet concludes tomorrow.
