Box Score Emmitsburg, Md. (October 18, 2023)--Mount St. Mary's dropped a tough 1-0 decision at home to first place Quinnipiac on Wednesday afternoon at Waldron Family Stadium. An own goal in the fifth minute proved to be the difference in the hard-fought game.
Quinnipiac, which clinched the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference regular season title with the victory, opened the scoring in the fifth minute. The Bobcats earned a corner kick that Madison Mandleur sent to the front of the next, but a Mount misplay on the ball ended up being an own goal for the lone score of the contest. Mount goalkeeper
Klil Keshwar came up with a fantastic save in the 35th minute on a shot from Evelyn Keay to keep it a one-goal game.
The Mount's best scoring chance in the second half came in the 52nd minute when an
Amani Green header off a corner kick was denied by Quinnipiac's Sofia Lospinoso. The Mount's final chance came in the 89th minute when Green had a long shot off a free kick stopped by Lospinoso.
Quinnipiac held a 9-to-6 shot advantage in the game, including a 6-to-3 edge in shots on goal. Keshwar made five saves for the Mount in the game while Lospinoso had three for the Bobcats.
