EMMITSBURG, Md. (September 8, 2022) – A new conference, three teams that made trips to the NCAA tournament, and a neutral site game at a resort all await Mount St. Mary's women's basketball this upcoming season.

here. There are a total of 29 games, with 20 of them counting towards play in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Games are an even 14-14 split between home and away, with the 29
th at a neutral site.
Teams on the schedule went a combined 256-316 last year, and 17 of the 19 squads have met the Mount before on the hardwood. Because of the conference shift, only one team – Loyola – faced Mount St. Mary's during the 2021-22 season.
Action starts November 7
th at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg. The Hokies were a number five seed during March Madness, finishing with a record of 23-10 under the guidance of coach Kenny Brooks. Six days later, a bigger challenge comes to the forefront when the Mount heads to North Carolina State. Earning a top seed in the bracket, the Wolfpack hosted First Four and opening round games, including Mount St. Mary's showdown against Longwood.
Conference games begin December 17
th in New York City as the Mountaineers travel to Manhattan. Two days later, the Mount opens the home slate of MAAC games with Siena. Defending conference champion Fairfield arrives in Emmitsburg on December 29
th.
Of the 10 competitors in the MAAC, the Mount has a prior history with nine of them. The lone exception is Iona – the first-ever Mountaineers/Gaels meeting occurs January 12
th in New Rochelle. Of the new schools, Quinnipiac is the most common opponent at 27 meetings. The Bobcats – along with Marist and Rider – were once members of the Northeast Conference during the Mount's time there.
More exciting contests include the 2022-23 home opener versus Navy on November 19
th and a three-game home stand in December with the renewal of the Catholic Clash against Loyola on the 3
rd.
One non-conference opponent, like Iona, also faces the Mount for the first time. On December 22
nd, the team wraps out-of-conference play with East Tennessee State. The Mountaineers and Buccaneers will battle on neutral ground, with the Harrah's Cherokee Casino in North Carolina serving as hosts.
Going into March, Mount St. Mary's completes the season on the road with the pilgrimage to Buffalo. They will play Canisius on the 2
nd and Niagara on the 4
th. One week earlier, the Mount honors its seniors and puts a bow tie on the home schedule with Manhattan February 25
th.
Moving to the MAAC also marks the first time since 2001 that the Mountaineers will play the tournament at a neutral site. The conference championships begin March 7
th at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J.
