EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 19, 2022) – A pair of Collegiate Water Polo Association games await Mount St. Mary's water polo, as Michigan and Brown come to town.
Before they play the Mount, the two sides meet in a neutral game at 9 a.m. at the ARCC Swimming Pool.
MOUNT UPDATE
The Mountaineers shook off their losing streak to take three out of four at the La Salle Invitational.
Samantha Bright hit a half-court goal as time expired to defeat Salem 12-11, and
Mara Davis struck an overtime winner to take down Gannon. A 13-2 victory against Mercyhurst rounded out the wins, but the team also added a solid effort in a 9-6 loss to La Salle.
Rebecca Valentine leads the group with 65 goals, and
Ana Luisa Cotta leads with 30 assists and 30 steals.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Ranked a respective 7
th and 21
st in the country, Michigan and Brown are among the top teams in the nation. The Wolverines stand 13-7 and 2-0 in conference, with Maddie O'Reilly leading her team again with 75 points – 41 of them goals. The Bears are almost equal to Michigan in record, boasting a 13-8 mark and a 4-1 CWPA record. Zoe King has 53 points for Brown, divided by 32 goals and 21 assists.
ALL TIME SERIES
Michigan took all three contests during the Mount's inaugural season, including a win at the CWPA Championships. Brown met the Mountaineers for the first time earlier this year, winning by a 15-4 score.
